Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), a part of Reliance Industries, has teamed up with SpaceX to offer Starlink’s satellite internet services in India. This partnership aims to bring high-speed broadband to even the most remote parts of the country. However, the deal still depends on getting the necessary approvals for SpaceX to sell Starlink in India.
Airtel, Jio’s competitor, announced a similar agreement with Elon Musk’s Starlink just a day earlier.
Expanding Jio’s Reach with Starlink
In a statement, Jio said this partnership will help both companies explore how Starlink can expand Jio’s services. At the same time, Jio will work with SpaceX to support its direct offerings for both businesses and consumers.
Jio plans to sell Starlink solutions through its retail stores and online platforms. This move could make Starlink more accessible to customers across India.
Leveraging Strengths for Reliable Connectivity
The agreement brings together two industry leaders—Jio, the world’s largest mobile operator by data traffic, and Starlink, the top low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite provider. Their goal is to deliver reliable broadband services across India, even in areas with poor connectivity.
Jio won’t just sell Starlink equipment in its stores. It will also set up a system to help customers with installation, activation, and support.
With this partnership, Starlink could soon play a big role in India’s digital future, helping millions access fast and stable internet.
