Bigleaf, CTS Mobility Bond Starlink With 5G for Business

Bigleaf Networks, a US provider of what it calls application-aware connectivity, announced a strategic partnership with CTS Mobility on September 29, 2026, with the aim of letting business customers combine Starlink with fiber, broadband, 5G and fixed wireless on the same network. CTS Mobility is described in the announcement as a national provider of enterprise mobility, fixed wireless, business internet and managed connectivity services, and the release was issued from Beaverton, Oregon and Austin, Texas.

Key facts

  • The partnership was announced via Business Wire on September 29 and reported by Yahoo Finance; the original release is on businesswire.com.
  • CTS Mobility customers will be able to bond fiber, broadband, 5G, fixed wireless and Starlink connections using Bigleaf’s performance layer, according to the release.
  • Both companies say a driving focus of the deal is helping customers get more value out of Starlink specifically.
  • CTS Mobility will launch a special Q4 promotional offer for its partners and their customers, with details announced on October 1.
  • The release names Greg Davis as CEO of Bigleaf Networks and Andrew Brady as President of CTS Mobility.

Why it matters

The announcement is a channel deal rather than a Starlink product change, but it says something about how satellite capacity is being sold to businesses. Both companies frame Starlink not as a replacement for terrestrial lines but as one circuit among several that software decides when to use.

It is also a North American story. Bigleaf’s own August description, carried by Morningstar, says the company provides service across North America, and the release calls CTS Mobility a national provider. Neither release mentions Africa, Zimbabwe or any market outside the United States, so readers here should not expect this particular offer locally. The underlying pattern is familiar, though: the same bonding logic is what makes operators elsewhere comfortable with satellite links, including the tower operators testing Starlink as rural backhaul in Nigeria.

What the combined service is meant to do

According to The Fast Mode, which also carried the announcement, Bigleaf automatically steers traffic across available circuits based on real-time network conditions. The stated goal is consistent performance for cloud applications, voice, video and business-critical workloads regardless of which circuit a site happens to be using.

The companies say the problem they are addressing is that organisations have started adopting fixed wireless and satellite services to speed up deployments, cover distributed sites and improve business continuity — and that keeping application performance consistent across such different circuit types has become harder as a result.

Davis said businesses “are no longer limited to traditional connectivity options,” and described CTS Mobility as a trusted advisor in wireless and mobility solutions. Brady said organisations are embracing wireless and satellite connectivity in ways the industry has not seen before, and that the partnership gives customers a way to bond those connections to improve resiliency and accelerate deployments.

Who the companies are targeting

The release lists distributed enterprises, retail organisations, healthcare providers, construction firms and transportation companies as the intended buyers, along with any organisation wanting faster site turn-ups and better business continuity. That list overlaps heavily with the use cases that have pushed satellite into the mainstream, from temporary sites to Starlink for remote work.

Background: the jet ski demonstration

The partnership follows a publicity exercise in August. On August 11, 2026, Bigleaf announced it would demonstrate enterprise connectivity from a waterborne jet ski using Starlink, 5G and its Network Optimization platform, according to the release published by markets.financialcontent and Morningstar.

David McGiffin, Sales Director at Bigleaf, said in that release that anyone can show connectivity working in a controlled environment and that the company wanted to see what happens when the control is removed. Lori Stout, the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, said the exercise was about making the technology tangible and showing what resilient connectivity looks like outside a traditional office.

The August release said the demonstration was particularly relevant to organisations in rural areas, on construction sites, in temporary locations and in mobile environments where wired broadband may be unavailable or impractical. It also argued that as satellite and cellular links become viable parts of enterprise WAN strategies, companies need a way to manage them alongside traditional broadband without losing performance or visibility.

What the sources do not say

The releases do not give pricing, customer numbers, revenue terms or any target for how many sites the partnership expects to connect. They also do not say whether the arrangement involves Starlink service resold by CTS Mobility or terminals the customer already owns. SpaceX is not quoted in either announcement, and nothing in the material indicates involvement by Starlink itself — a notable absence given how fast its subscriber base is moving, with Starlink passing 12 million users.

The two sets of releases also describe Bigleaf slightly differently: the September announcement calls it a leading provider of application-aware connectivity solutions, while the August one calls it a leader in network optimization and wireless-first connectivity. The next concrete item on the calendar is the CTS Mobility Q4 offer, due to be detailed on October 1.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Bigleaf actually do to a Starlink connection?

According to the Business Wire releases carried by Yahoo Finance, Bigleaf continuously monitors network conditions and automatically steers application traffic across whichever circuits are available, with Starlink treated as one of those circuits. Bigleaf’s own description says its solutions integrate with existing firewalls, ISPs and applications, install simply and keep working unattended through circuit degradation or outages.

What hardware did Bigleaf use in its Starlink jet ski demonstration?

The August 11, 2026 announcement, published by Morningstar and markets.financialcontent, says the demonstration used Starlink and 5G connectivity with the Bigleaf BLR Edge 800W router. The live demo ran during a Bigleaf webinar titled “Live from a Jet Ski: Can Starlink and 5G Really Deliver Seamless Connectivity” on August 18 at 11 a.m. PT.

What is in the Q4 promotional offer?

Neither release discloses the terms. Both The Fast Mode and Yahoo Finance say only that CTS Mobility will introduce a special Q4 promotional offer for its partners and their customers, with details to be announced on October 1.

Where is Bigleaf Networks based?

The August release says Bigleaf was founded in 2012 in Portland, Oregon. The September 29 partnership announcement carries a dual dateline of Beaverton, Oregon and Austin, Texas, the latter for CTS Mobility.
