easyJet, the UK-based low-cost airline, said on Monday 26 October 2026 that it will install Starlink satellite internet across its fleet, offering wi-fi on board for the first time in its history. The deal covers 292 aircraft, with installations beginning in the first half of 2027 and the rollout expected to be finished by early 2028, according to Travelling for Business and theaviationhub, which attributes the 292-jet figure and several details to Head for Points and Business Traveller.

Key facts

  • Who: easyJet and SpaceX, the US rocket and satellite company that operates Starlink.
  • How many aircraft: 292 jets, covering easyJet’s Airbus A320 and A321 fleets, per theaviationhub and Travelling for Business.
  • Timing: fitting starts in the first half of 2027; completion expected by early 2028.
  • Coverage: SpaceX’s network will provide the connection for the whole flight, the airline said.
  • Price: not confirmed.
  • Scale of airline: easyJet carried 100 million passengers in 2025 and is one of Europe’s largest carriers, Travelling for Business reports.

Where the numbers come from

Both reports trace the hard figures to the UK trade sites Head for Points and Business Traveller rather than to a release issued by either company, and we have not seen a primary statement published directly by easyJet or SpaceX. The 292-jet count and the 2027-2028 timeline should therefore be read as trade-reported and consistent across two independent write-ups, not as company-confirmed in a document available to readers.

Why it matters

easyJet has never offered wi-fi on board, so this is a move from nothing to a fleet-wide system. theaviationhub calls the commitment significant and says the pace of the rollout suggests the airline is treating connectivity as a priority rather than a long-term project.

Travelling for Business frames it differently, as closing one of the clearest gaps between easyJet and full-service rivals. It reports the announcement follows British Airways’ plan to offer free Starlink wi-fi, which put pressure on other UK airlines to follow.

What passengers will get

Beyond browsing and streaming on their own devices, passengers will be able to check flight status through the easyJet app and website and look up destination information such as local weather and transport, the airline said in remarks reported by Travelling for Business.

Kenton Jarvis, easyJet’s chief executive, said staying connected matters more than ever to many of the airline’s customers, from holidaymakers wanting in-flight entertainment to business travellers keeping up with events on the ground, in comments quoted by Travelling for Business. Gwynne Shotwell, president and chief operating officer of SpaceX, said the company was proud to bring Starlink on board easyJet, and that a connection from take-off to landing lets people work, stream or stay in touch without interruption, in a statement carried in the same report.

The pricing question

Neither report could pin down cost. theaviationhub says easyJet’s press office told Head for Points that “more details on access including pricing will be shared as the first aircraft are Starlink-equipped.” That leaves open whether the service is free, bundled with a fare type, or sold separately — and ties the answer to the start of fitting in the first half of 2027, the only timing marker either outlet offers for when terms will appear.

theaviationhub links the open question to easyJet’s wider commercial plans. It reports, citing Head for Points, that the airline intends to launch a loyalty scheme in 2027 and appointed a new head of loyalty and subscription this month, recruited from Virgin Atlantic. Whether wi-fi becomes a loyalty perk, a paid add-on or a free feature is something the airline has not said, the outlet notes.

A reversal since January

Both outlets point to the same about-turn. In January 2026, Jarvis told journalists that talks with Starlink had been held but that the economics did not quite work for easyJet, adding that the airline was also speaking to other providers, Travelling for Business reports. theaviationhub describes Monday’s announcement as a notable reversal of that position.

Since then, Travelling for Business reports, rival low-cost carrier Wizz Air has agreed its own Starlink deal for its fleet from 2027, while Ryanair has so far held back over cost. The same report says United Airlines now offers Starlink on nearly half its daily flights in the US, and that Starlink’s aviation service is being fitted by a growing number of carriers in Europe. By our own count, easyJet is the 50th airline to choose Starlink, joining operators including Emirates, which has the system on 65 aircraft, while American Airlines has committed its entire 1,000-jet fleet.

Starlink availability during the rollout

Because the fitting programme runs for roughly a year, Starlink availability will build up aircraft by aircraft rather than switch on across the network at once, so a given flight may or may not be connected. Travelling for Business advises travellers not to assume connectivity until the fleet-wide fit is complete in early 2028, to keep offline copies of documents and presentations, and to treat any connection as a bonus rather than a certainty. theaviationhub makes the same point from the other direction: passengers on earlier-fitted jets will have access before the rest of the fleet catches up.

For corporate travel buyers, Travelling for Business says onboard connectivity is likely to become another factor in airline choice, and suggests checking once pricing is confirmed whether a company’s travel policy allows paid wi-fi to be claimed on expenses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will easyJet’s Starlink wi-fi be free?

Unconfirmed. The airline has given no indication either way, and both outlets reporting the deal say access terms are still to be published.

Which easyJet aircraft get Starlink first?

easyJet declined to specify, Travelling for Business reports. The programme covers the airline’s A320 and A321 jets, so the fitting order rather than aircraft type will decide which routes see it first.

Which other European low-cost airlines have Starlink deals?

Wizz Air has agreed its own deal covering its fleet from 2027, while Ryanair has held back on cost grounds, Travelling for Business reports.

Where does the 292-jet figure come from?

Not from a company release we have seen. theaviationhub credits the aircraft count and the 2027-2028 schedule to the UK trade sites Head for Points and Business Traveller, and Travelling for Business reports the same numbers.
